Laws
The Art Restitution Act (BGBl No. 181/1998) was passed in Austria in 1998 and his modification in 2009 (BGBl No. 117/2009). Its aim is to give collective items from Austrian federal museums and collections, which became federal property as a result of the NS-tyranny, back to their original owners or their heirs at law. The necessary researches are carried out systematically by the Commission for Provenance Research.
